Antique 1890s Flow Blue Cobalt Oval Serving Bowl Deep Vegetable Dish
A stunning example of Victorian-era Flow Blue transferware, this oval serving bowl dates to the 1890s and showcases the soft, dreamy cobalt blue-on-white aesthetic that collectors have prized for generations. The flowing floral and scrollwork motifs bleed beautifully into the white ironstone ground, a hallmark of the firing technique that gives Flow Blue its distinctive, romantic appearance.
The bowl features a gracefully scalloped rim with an embossed beaded border and lush floral clusters at the top, bottom, and sides — framed by ornate scrolled cartouches. The deep well makes it well-suited as a vegetable dish or serving bowl, while its elegant form also makes it a striking display piece.
The underside bears a blue underglaze maker's mark, consistent with English pottery manufacturers of the late 19th century. A small impressed number "15" is also present on the base.
