Beautiful Vintage Mid-Century Modern (MCM) Impasto Oil Portrait – Signed "Mara"
Stunning, authentic 1960s–1970s original oil on canvas portrait of a young woman wearing a headscarf. This piece features magnificent, heavily textured impasto brushwork, giving the painting wonderful depth, movement, and physical presence.
Artist & Origin:
The painting is beautifully signed "mara." in a stylized lowercase script in the lower right-hand corner. Reflecting the highly desirable production studio art boom of the Mid-Century Modern era, the reverse side features a matching artist cursive inscription pencil-written onto the wood stretcher bar.
Frame & Construction:
The piece comes securely housed in its original, premium mid-century framing assembly. It consists of a distressed, silver/gold-washed vintage wooden frame complemented by an inner textured "Oyster" colored linen/burlap liner mat. The top edge of the reverse frame bears the original workshop production chalk/pencil annotations: #609 7¾ X 9¾ EX Oyster, providing wonderful provenance of its commercial gallery history.
Physical Build:
This is a true pre-stretched canvas piece—individually stretched over interlocking mitered wooden bars and secured with original black-oxidized upholstery tacks and heavy-gauge vintage staples (visible along the side profiles).

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The oil paint is vibrant and fully intact with beautiful, thick impasto ridges. The canvas is appropriately taut with no visible sagging or tearing. The reverse side shows natural, uniform age-toning and weathering to the raw linen canvas and wood frame, fully authenticating its 50+ year age. The structural integrity is rock solid with all original wire and retention pins fully intact and ready to hang.
